El Shiitake es un hongo. El extracto de este hongo se utiliza como medicamento.
Se le conoce también por otros nombres: Champignon Noir, Champignon Parfumé, Champignon Shiitake, Champignons Shiitake, Forest Mushroom, Hongos Shiitake, Hua Gu, Lenticus edodes, Lentin, Lentin des Chênes, Lentin du Chêne, Lentinan edodes, Lentinula, Lentinula edodes, Lentinus edodes, Mushroom, Pasania Fungus, Shitake, Shiitake, Snake Butter, Tricholomopsis edodes.
Beneficios del hongo Shiitake
Las setas Shiitake se utilizan para estimular el sistema inmune, la reducción de los niveles colesterol en sangre , el tratamiento de cáncer de próstata, y como un agente antienvejecimiento.
Es un alimento que contiene sustancias químicas que podrían ayudar a bajar los niveles de colesterol. Además, aporta cantidades muy pequeñas de una sustancia química que ayuda a evitar el crecimiento de los tumores.
Cancer de próstata. El extracto de hongo Shiitake no parece detener el avance del cáncer de próstata, al menos de acuerdo a una prueba de laboratorio que mide los niveles de antígeno (PSA) específico de la próstata. Los niveles de PSA pueden ser utilizados para medir el progreso de cáncer de próstata.
Cabe señalar que se necesitan más estudios para poder evaluar la eficacia de hongo shiitake para estos usos.
Efectos secundarios del Shiitake
El shiitake en formato medicinal puede causar malestar estomacal, anormalidades en la sangre, la piel y la hinchazón (inflamación). También podría causar un aumento de la sensibilidad al sol, las reacciones alérgicas de la piel y problemas respiratorios.
De cara a las mujeres embarazadas o en período de lactancia, no hay suficiente información fiable acerca de la seguridad de tomar setas shiitake, por lo que debes evitar su uso por seguridad.
Por otra parte, respecto a las enfermedades autoinmunes, como esclerosis múltiple (EM), lupus (lupus eritematoso sistémico, LES), artritis reumatoide (AR) u otras condiciones, el hongo Shiitake podría provocar que el sistema inmunológico se volviese más activo. Esto podría aumentar los síntomas de enfermedades autoinmunes. Si tienes alguna de estas enfermedades, lo mejor es evitar el uso de la seta mencionada.
Por último, si padeces un trastorno de la sangre llamado eosinofilia, no se recomienda tomar el hongo shiitake, ya que podría empeorar la situación.
Dosis de hongos shiitake
La dosis apropiada de hongo shiitake depende de varios factores tales como la edad de la persona, la salud, y varias otras condiciones. En este momento no hay suficiente información científica para determinar un rango de dosis apropiada de hongo shiitake . Ten en cuenta que los productos naturales no son siempre necesariamente seguros y las dosis pueden ser importantes.
